A demand draft (also called an RCC — Remotely Created Check) is a paper check that can be created and deposited without the account holder’s physical signature, provided they have previously authorized the payment in writing. Check Draft Manager collects that authorization electronically and generates the compliant check draft for you to print and deposit.
Yes, demand drafts are legal when proper written authorization is obtained from the account holder prior to creating the draft. The authorization process is governed by NACHA Operating Rules, Regulation E, and UCC Article 3. Check Draft Manager’s authorization form includes compliant legal language, electronic signature capture, and a full audit trail. We recommend consulting with your attorney or bank to confirm compliance for your specific use case.
Check Draft Manager is designed for VersaCheck Form 1000 paper — standard 8.5” x 11” check paper with perforations at 3.5”, 7”, and 10.5”. The top check zone (0”–3.5”) is the print area. VersaCheck paper is widely available from office supply stores and online retailers.
In most cases, no. Modern banks and check processors use image-based scanning enabled by the Check 21 Act, which reads the MICR font optically — making magnetic ink unnecessary for the majority of transactions. Standard laser toner on VersaCheck Form 1000 stock works fine in most modern banking environments.

That said, MICR toner is worth considering if your customers bank with smaller community banks or credit unions that may still use magnetic readers, or if you are printing high volumes where occasional rejections would be disruptive. For low-to-moderate volume users banking with major institutions, standard laser printing is what most Check Draft Manager users find works without issue.
All routing numbers and account numbers are encrypted at rest using AES-256 before being stored in the database — the same standard used by financial institutions. Data is only decrypted in memory at the moment a check draft is generated and is never displayed in full in the interface. All data is transmitted via HTTPS/TLS. Passwords use PBKDF2/SHA-256 hashing and are never stored in recoverable form.
You are never blocked from generating drafts. Overage drafts beyond your plan’s monthly limit are charged at your plan’s per-draft overage rate and billed automatically at the end of your billing period via PayPal. Your dashboard always shows your current usage so you can monitor where you are in your billing cycle.
Yes. In your account settings you can configure your own SendGrid API key or SMTP credentials. When configured, authorization request emails sent to your customers will come from your business email address rather than Check Draft Manager’s address — improving open rates and brand recognition.
Yes. You can cancel at any time through your billing settings. Your account remains active through the end of your current billing period. After cancellation, your data is retained for 90 days in case you want to reactivate, then permanently deleted.
